Significant people moves have been revealed in a week that saw hundreds of skilled staff from ISG take to social media to find new jobs.
Structure Tone’s new note
The big announcement of the week came from Structure Tone, which revealed that former ISG chief executive Matt Blowers had joined the firm “with immediate effect” as joint managing director (MD).
Justin Fahy, his fellow MD at the fit-out and refurbishment specialist, revealed Structure Tone had been in discussions with Blowers since the “early part of this year”. He will be sharing duties with Blowers.
Fahy added that a factor in the decision was that Blowers – who spent 26 years at ISG – had “longstanding industry relationships and expertise”.
Gareth Jones
Motoring along
GMI Construction Group, 59th in the latest CN100 rankings, has promoted Gareth Jones to the role of group MD.
Jones was previously divisional MD for the Midlands, where he generated £85m in revenue with projects that included a technical centre at MIRA Technology Park, the UK motor industry’s development ground in Warwickshire. He will work alongside group commercial director Richard Davies.
Mark Toye
Testing times
Ground engineering firm Igne is also changing its top team. The company announced industry expert Mark Toye as its new MD for ground investigation in England and Wales.
Chartered geologist Toye was previously estimating director at Socotec and is a former chair of the British Drilling Association.
Graham Fisk
Follow the money
Graham Fisk has been appointed as the new group finance director of infrastructure and construction firm Munnelly Group.
Fisk was previously a finance director at Taylor Wimpey. His experience includes housebuilding, multi-site retail and distribution.
Good company
Constructing Rainbows, which advises the industry on equality and diversity, has welcomed Emma McLaughlin-Edwards as its new company director.
McLaughlin-Edwards was previously executive director of equality, diversity and inclusion at facilities management firm Emcor UK.
Constructing Rainbows said her appointment is “pivotal”, not least because of her 20 years of industry experience. She will be driving the organisation’s growth, particularly with firms in the built environment.
Three on Ridge
Ridge has hired three key figures from fellow consultancy Arcadis.
Mark Dewhurst, Lee Mellor and Chris Dunne have two decades of experience between them in cost and project management. They have worked on a host of big jobs including the £116m Co-op head office development.
Peer review
The UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) has a well-connected new advisory group chair.
Former construction minister and chair of developer Regal, Lord Richard Harrington is “going to be a real enabler” and will be tasked with growing the forum, said a statement from the organisation.
